bullet  General Notes:

Census: This excerpt is from the 1850 census for West Bethlehem Township in Washington County, Pennsylvania. Eve Allum, age 68, is documented as Eve "Ellem." In Eve's household are Katherine Bell, age 29, and her children, ages 3 to 10. This is the only census in which Eve has been found as William's widow. Where was she in 1840? Did she remarry after 1850? Pass on? Move elsewhere?
From DeeAnna Allum Granston

"Eve" may have been short for "Eveline," (Evaline), "Evelyn," "Eveanna," or even "Yvonne" (Evonne, Evon) or "Genevieve," but she has been found documented only as "Eve." Use your imagination regarding potential spellings when searching for her given name, i. e., "Eave," "Ive," etc.

(In 2006 I was surprised to discover Evaline Gregory Allum, 1808-1873--wife of James Allum, 1812-1850--in the 1870 census in IOWA instead of in Pennsylvania. Her name was obscured as "A. Allen" on the handwritten census...then transcribed as "O. Allen" for a census index! Be open to using "A" and "I" and "O"--as well as "Allen" and other incorrect spellings of the Allum surname--in genealogy search engines to try to find William Allum's second wife Eve.)

Who is the "Wd. Allum" noted on McConnell's 1865 map for the town of Jefferson in Jefferson Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania? Could Eve have lived 15 years after the 1850 census...without appearing in additional records?
