Colonel and Mrs. George Huffman Celebrate 50th Anniversary of Marriage
Harveys, Jan. 28. - Colonel and Mrs. George Huffman celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Wednesday, January 26. Colonel Huffman was the son of George and Mary Iams Huffman and was born near Bates Fork in 1843. He has one brother, Thomas Huffman, living in Graysville who is 82 years old but who was not able to attend the celebration, and one sister, Mrs. Mariah Batson of Moundsville, W. Va.
Mr. Huffman has followed farming all his life and was able to husk a large field of corn last fall and rides two miles every day to do his feeding.
Mrs. Huffman was the daughter of Jonathan Allum, was born in Richhill township, near Eno, in 1849. She has one brother, John Allum, of Kellogg, Iowa, and one sister, Mrs. Rachel Fugard, of Newton, Iowa, who is the only one living out of 18 who attended the wedding 50 years ago.
They were married by Rev. James Miller and have always lived near Graysville. They have one son and one daughter living, Delmar Huffman, of Graysville, and Mrs. Clarice Morris of Burnsville, and also nine grandchildren. When Mr. Huffman took his bride home for the reception they went by horseback.
Mrs. Huffman opened a can of blackberry jam on the day of the celebration which had been canned 47 years and the berries were as well preserved as the day they were canned.
Those present at the celebration were Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Huffman, Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Stokes, Mr. and Mrs. Orland Day, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Smith, Ruth Morris, Pearl Headlee, Margaret Chess, Mary Day and Richard Chess. They received many handsome presents.

AGED GRAYSVILLE MAN SUMMONED BY DEATH
Waynesburg, May 1.-George Huffman, aged 80 years, died at his home near Graysville this evening at 7 o'clock. He was born September 9, 1843, and had spent all his life in the Graysville section. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Presbyterian church. His wife, Mrs. Lydia Allum Huffman, and two children survive, B. L. Huffman of Graysville, and Mrs. Clarence Morris of West Finley. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.

George Huffman, favorably known resident of Harveys, Pa., died at his home on Thursday, May 1, 1924, in his 81st year. The funeral service was held on Saturday, at his late home, conducted by his pastor, Rev. A. M. Riggs. A further service was held at Enon, where the burial took place in the cemetery there.
Mr. Huffman was born in the community Sept. 6, 1843, son of George and Mary Iams Huffman. His active career (was) spent in farming. Some years ago, he retired from farming and located in Harvey's. He was a member of the Presbyterian church of that place. He was married January 20, 1871, to Miss Lydia Allum, who is bereft. He also leaves one daughter and one son, Mrs. Manfred Morris and Delmar Huffman, of Harvey's; also one brother and a sister, Thomas Huffman of Harvey's and Mrs. W. H. Batson, of Moundsville.
Mr. Huffman was the grandfather of Mrs. J. D. Stokes and Miss Ruth Morris, of this place, and Miss Freda Morris, teacher in the Claysville schools the past term. Margaret and Richard Chess, pupils of Claysville schools, are great-grandchildren, (Dick) having been a pal of his great-grandfather.

Mrs. Lydia A. Huffman
Mrs. Lydia Allum Huffman, aged 88 years, well known resident of Graysville, died at her home there Wednesday, April 7, 1937, at 12:40 p.m. following an illness of three weeks. Despite her advanced age she had enjoyed excellent health and had continued to do all of her own house work until she became ill.
A daughter of the late Jonathan and Elizabeth Supler Allum, Mrs. Huffman was born at Enon January 22, 1849, and was the widow of George Huffman, who died several years ago. She had spent her entire life in Richhill Township and in Graysville and was one of the most highly esteemed residents of that section of the county. She was a member of the South Ten Mile Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Clarice Morris, of Burnsville; one son, Delmar Huffman, of Graysville; four grandsons, George Rush of East Finley; James Buril and Dale Morris, all of Burnsville; four granddaughters, Mrs. Clarice Day, of Wind Ridge; Mrs. Ferne Stokes, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Miss Ruth Morris, of Steubenville, Ohio, and Mrs. Freda Thompson, of Avella; five great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

Huffman Rites
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon for Mrs. Lydia Allum Huffman, widow of George Huffman, of Graysville, who died at her home Wednesday, April 7, at the age of 88 years. The services will be conducted in the Unity Presbyterian Church at Graysville, with the Rev. A. M. Riggs, of Wind Ridge, in charge. Interment will be in the Enon Cemetery.

She was born January 22, 1849, a daughter of Jonathan and Elizabeth (sic) (Supler) Allum. She was married to George Huffman, January 26, 1871.
She leaves a son, Delmar, of Graysville, and a daughter, Mrs. Clarice Morris, of Burnsville. Another daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Rush, is dead. There are eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Huffman was a member of the South Ten Mile Baptist Church.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
