Our Ancestor ALLUM
- Born: Abt 1756
- Marriage: William ALLUM 1st Of Maryland and Pennsylvania about 1777 in (Probably) Maryland
- Died: After 1820, Washington County, Pennsylvania (Probably)
General Notes:
Document: Will of William Allum of Washington County, Pennsylvania, page 2 of 2
William's first wife -- our ancestor -- is the female designated "45 and up" in the 1800 census and again in 1820. (William & wife have not been found in 1810.)
(By 1830 William was married to his second wife, whose given name was Eve, documented "40-50" years old in the 1830 census.)
Presumably, William and his first wife were married in Maryland. If their marriage record survived the many disasters that could have befallen it through the years, the Allum surname could be misspelled and/or erroneously transcribed.
If a Thomas Allum, born about 1778, was not a son of William and his first wife--instead of having been married about 1777--William and his first wife could have been married closer to 1780 or even early in 1781. Mary S. Allum, known to be their child, was born in December, 1781.
