Feb 19, 1881:

Hon. Thomas Iams died at his home in Morris Twp. on ------ in the 60th year of his age. He was attacked 3 weeks ago with a severe cold which resulted in the affection of the prostrate (sic) gland and of the bladder, from which he died. His wife and 5 children survive him, two of whom live in Waynesburg, Frank P. Iams, Esq. and Mrs. J. W. Ray. His remains were brought to town on the Monday morning train. He was buried from the depot. Interment in the Greene Mount Cemetery. Judge Iams had lived the last 28 years on the farm where he died, which comprises 650 acres of good land.

OBITUARY (Delilah) from an unidentified newspaper:

Mrs. Delilah Huffman Iams

The death of Mrs. Delilah Huffman Iams of North West Street Friday March 15, 1913 removed from the last real daughter of the War of 1812; and the oldest resident of Waynesburg, and a well known Christian woman. Her death which occurred at 1 o'clock Friday PM was the result of the infirmities of old age. She was in her 89th year.

Mrs. Iams, was a daughter of Benjamin and Sarah Wood Huffman, was born on Ruffs Creek, Washington township, July 16, 1824. Her father, Benjamin Huffman, was a soldier in the War of 1812. On June 30, 1842, she was married to Thomas Iams and soon after the marriage moved to Morris township, Greene County, where until the death of Mr. Iams they resided on the farm now owned by Otho Iams. Thomas Iams was well known in Greene County, having served a term as associate judge of the county and one term as county treasurer. His death occurred February 19, 1881. Mrs. Iams was the mother of five sons and three daughters, Otho Iams of Morris township; Attorney Franklin P. Iams of Pittsburgh; James L. Iams, of Waynesburg, Benjamin Iams, a soldier in the Civil War, being a second lieutenant in the 18th Pennsylvania Cavalry, who died of fever June 8, 1863; Jesse Leasure Iams who died in 1871, Mrs. J. W. Ray and Miss Lou Iams, of Waynesburg, and a sister who died in infancy. Mrs. Iams was the youngest of a family of 12 children and is the last one to pass away. She was a member of the Baptist Church for over 60 years.

The funeral was held Sunday afternoon. The services were conducted at 2 o'clock, by the Rev. George C. Horter, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Waynesburg. Interment in Green Mount Cemetery.
