Kenneth M. Allum, Jr., September 4, 2009 e-mail to DeeAnna:


"Alvin's Bible was presented to him by his daughter Berenice on Father's Day in 1941 (one year before she enlisted in the WACS in World War Two and left home for two and one-half years). The names and dates are in his handwriting, but I do not know if he was recording them from memory or copying them from another written record.

"An entry confirms the birthdate of his father, Nelson Melville Allum, as November 17, 1862. Likewise, the birthdate of his mother, Maggie E. J. Bushong, as August 2, 1865, plus her date of death, April 6, 1944.

"Other entries are as follows:


William A. Allum, born November 8, 1887, died October 12, 1970

George Edson Allum, born August 25, 1890, died November 14, 1890

Roy Melville Allum, born October 27, 1892, died March 13, 1969

Everett Elsworth Allum, born September 22, 1895, died July 31, 1896

Warren Nelson Allum, born December 21, 1901, died after Alvin, thus there is no entry in Alvin's Bible for Warren's death

DeeAnna's Note: If not for entries in the Bible of Alvin Lorando Allum, found and shared by Kenneth M. Allum, Jr., it is probable that dates of birth and death for George Edson Allum and Everett Elsworth Allum would never have become known. George died at 2 months 20 days and Everett died at 10 months 9 days.
