Having traced my ancestry to Henry Baker already by 1964, in 1965 I traveled to Richland County, Ohio to research at the Richland County courthouse, in the Mansfield Library, and to take photographs in what was then known as Lucas Cemetery. Today, it is I. O. O. F. Cemetery, also known as Oddfellows Cemetery, where Henry and members of his family are buried.

Barely discernible in 1965 was the engraving on Henry's stone that, by today, may have completely eroded.

Much remains in files to be transcribed or scanned and, as I can, I focus on BAKER to bring more to light.

1860 CENSUS, Ohio, Richland County, Monroe Township, Lucas ("Henry," occupation "Farmer," and wife "Elizabeth," age 48) (Henry's age is "off" in this census; he is documented "43" but would have been about 55)

1870 CENSUS, Ohio, Richland County, Monroe Township, Lucas ("Henry," age 65, "Farmer") (This is the correct family -- next door to son Hiram Baker, Hiram's wife Rebecca and their son John -- but, for whatever reason, Henry's wife is documented "Delia" in this census, age 55)

1873 DEATH, Henry Baker at 68 years 9 months 11 days

1880 CENSUS, Ohio, Richland County, Lucas ("Eliza," "Assistant Housekeeper," age 67, is in the household of her son, Henry Baker, Jr.)

1891 DEATH of wife, Eliza (Hunter) Baker, at approximately 78 years

Cause of death: "Pneumonia" --Ashland County court house records
