General Notes:
Photo: When Cedric Earl Simmons was born in 1915, the ALLUM building in Marengo, Iowa County, Iowa owned by his grandfather, John Banks Allum, 1843-1927, had existed for several decades. In this photo taken in 1964, even a barber shop remained where "J. B.'s" own barber shop had been through the years. For reasons unknown, "ALLUM" was removed from atop the building between 1997 and 1999.
