Photo: This rare photo of the homestead of Charles W. Allum (1796-1868) is faded but does not keep us from observing the fine, large frame house on the property in Richhill Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania. Notice the female in the doorway of the dwelling and children frolicking in the foreground at lower left. Does it appear a second female is standing in the yard? Is there also a figure in the doorway of the barn?

The large frame house was the Greene County, Pennsylvania ancestral home of those who descend from Charles and Jemima (Barnhart) Allum.

Shirley Allum Hudlicky, October 14, 1965 letter to DeeAnna:

"This was copied from a very old and yellowed photo in the possession of Harley Swart. The house was torn down in 1964 so that Mr. Sawyer, owner of Char-Mar Ranch [at that time], would not be taxed. I literally wept.

"Kids, one on a horse, and various adults can be seen in the photo. Perhaps some of them are our great, great [etc.] grandparents..."
