This photo of the site of the former Charles W. Allum homestead was taken on July 11, 1965 by Shirley Allum Hudlicky. The large frame house had been razed in 1964. The middle section of the Allum barn was constructed in 1854. When Charles' great, great grandson, Charles Monroe Swart (1893-1988), owned the property, he added two silos.
The very first home of Charles Allum had been across the road from the site shown in this photo, but only a tree and a spring marked its location in 1965.
