Louisa McCARROLL

  General Notes:

Photo: This stone for Henry Fields, 1818-1915, and his second wife Louisa does not bear a date of death for her. It is at Mount Zion Cemetery in Prosperity, Washington County, Pennsylvania. Henry's first wife, Elizabeth (McCarroll) Fields, died in Iowa and is buried at Koszta Cemetery, Koszta, Iowa County, Iowa where other members of the extended Fields family who migrated there from Pennsylvania are also buried. Henry's second wife, Louisa, was also a McCarroll and was Elizabeth's younger sister. Only one sibling outlived Henry--younger brother, George W. Fields, who died in Koszta, Iowa County, Iowa in 1919.

"Mount Zion Cemetery is very small and sits atop a hill. You can see for miles. Henry's stone is the newest looking in the cemetery. Others are very old and faded, many have fallen or been knocked over. I would not have thought of the "Luesa" spelling. 'Guess when she died no one put the final touch on the stone."

Louisa is documented as "half-sister" to Elizabeth McCarroll in the obituary for Henry Fields, who married Elizabeth McCarroll first, then Louisa after Elizabeth's death. Because Louisa survived her husband Henry, she is the likely person to have provided information for his obituary.

Louisa was a daughter of Thomas McCarroll and Irena Lindley.

It is believed Elizabeth was a daughter of Thomas McCarroll and Margaret Craig.
