Gravestone William McLAUGHLIN

Photo: Although Mary Ann's year of birth on the gravestone shared with husband William is "1858," early documentation places her birth 1855-1856. (I have settled on 1856 in this online file.) Note the G.A.R. marker for William, who enlisted in 1862 at age 16 and served in the Civil War as Corporal in Company G, 39th Regiment, Iowa Infantry Volunteers. Among others from William's extended McLaughlin family, as well as their own children, Mary Ann and William are buried in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dodgeville, DesMoines County, Iowa.
