MILITARY SERVICE:
Civil War, 28th IOWA INFANTRY. From Book Twenty-Eighth Infantry pg. 1271: FIELDS, Francis M. age 19, resident Koszta , IA; Nativity Pennsylvania; enlisted Aug. 10, 1862 in the Twenty-Eighth IA Infantry, Co. B; Mustered: Aug. 20, 1862; Mustered out: July 31, 1865 in Savanna, GA. Frank applied for admission to the Iowa State Soldier's Veterans Home on October 18, 1914 and was admitted the following day. He died there on February 2, 1924.
