Raymond James Guessford, born August 29, 1900, at Kellogg, Iowa. In three years he moved with his parents to Newton, Iowa and they established their home in a house that they are still living in (1947 - 44 years). He became a machinist and a city employee in Des Moines, Iowa. He was married March 17, 1929, at Nashua, Iowa (The Little Brown Church that is so famous for so many weddings) to Irene Elizabeth Moffitt, born August 2, 1903, at Newton, Iowa. They both belong to the Church of Christ. They have one daughter. Raymond died June 4, 1946. Burial was in the family lot at Newton, Iowa.

Ray Guessford, 45, Former Newton Man Dies
Raymond Guessford, 45, died at 5:20 p.m. Monday at the General hospital in Des Moines following an illness of more than a month.
He was the son of Lee and Mary Guessfordand was born in Jasper County, Ia.
For the past two years he has resided in California, coming back to Des Moines because of his illness.
He was a member of the Christian church.
Survivors are his parents, a daughter, Rosemary, and brothers John Keith, Merlin, Charles and LeRoy.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
Funeral arrangements are not complete at the present time.
