General Notes:
Photo: In 1965, the stones of Lucinda (Wasson) Meacham, 1805-1847, and her son, George A. Meacham, 1834-1845, appeared "this way" at Koszta Cemetery, Koszta, Iowa County, Iowa. When my distant cousin, Linda Kelley Schlater, photographed them again in 1999, they had darkened with age (see "George A. Meacham").
Lucinda's husband, Anderson Meacham, did remarry after her death. "The mother" Sarah "Emma" L. (Meacham) Fields, 1843-1886, refers to in her letters is actually her stepmother, Fanny (Averill) (Pratt) Meacham, who entered Emma's life when she was about five years old.

Comments:
In the late 1990s I became aware that folks in Meacham, Oregon (named for the pioneer sons of Anderson and Lucinda Wasson Meacham of Iowa), believed "Grandma Meacham" was buried in, where else? Meacham Cemetery. I informed them that the boys' natural mother, Lucinda, was buried in Iowa. In addition, their stepmother, Fanny, is also buried in Iowa. Now they are left to ponder "who is in Grandma Meacham's grave."
