"Kenneth, Sr. grew up in Gravette, Arkansas, where he graduated from Gravette High School in 1926. He was an accomplished baseball player in the St. Louis Cardinal minor league system. He moved from Gravette during the Great Depression, married Evelyn Elzie Parish in 1936, and found employment during World War II with Philips Petroleum refinery in Kansas City, Kansas. He returned to Gravette in 1945 to assist ' A. L. ' [Alvin Lorando Allum] in his appliance store and with housing remodeling."
Kenneth M. Allum, Jr., March 30, 2006 e-mail to DeeAnna:
"I never did ask where ' Manson ' came from. While reviewing my Aunt Berenice's wedding book, I found a page I had overlooked. There in black and white was my Grandmother Anna Allum's father's name: James Manson Walker! It is possible James' mother's maiden name was Manson, but I have not been able to confirm it."
Kenneth married Evelyn Elzie PARISH, daughter of William Carlos PARISH and Sophia Elizabeth SCOTT, on May 9, 1936. (Evelyn Elzie PARISH was born on April 22, 1915 in Frederick, Tillman County, Oklahoma, died in 1984 and was buried in Tulsa, Oklahoma.)
