By 1860, Nancy had remarried to Jacob Newland, whose name is "Newel" in an 1860 census index. In the Jacob Newland household are three of Nancy's children by John Allum: Manerva, William, and Osa (as "Oca"). Also in the household is Margaret Newland, Nancy's daughter by Jacob.

In 1860, Nancy's two remaining children by John Allum are in the household of their paternal grandfather, Charles Allum ("Allums"): Malinda [as "Matilda"], age 15, "House Domestic," and her younger brother John [John Erwin Allum], age 11.

OBITUARY (Nancy) from WAYNESBURG REPUBLICAN, Waynesburg, Greene County, Pennsylvania, January 14, 1904:


MRS. NANCY NEWLYN

Mrs. Nancy Newlyn, widow of the late Jacob Newlyn, died Monday evening, Jan. 11, at the home of her son-in-law Hugh Montgomery, near Old Concord, Washington county, aged 80 years. Mrs. Newlyn was born and raised near Greensboro, this county, her maiden name being Cumpston. In 1844 she was united in marriage with John Allum and five children were born to them. All are living in the West, excepting Mrs. Morgan Simpson, of Old Concord. Mr. Allum died in 1854. Some years later Mrs. Allum was united in marriage with Jacob Newlyn of East Finley township. To this union five children were born, four of whom survive, as follows: Mr. Hugh Montgomery, Miss Etta Newlyn and A. S. Newlyn, of Old Concord; Mrs. U. G. St. Myers of Wheeling, W. Va. Mrs. Newlyn was a devoted and consistent Christian woman being a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church at Old Concord. The funeral services were held Wednesday and the interment was made in the Prosperity cemetery.

Nancy married John ALLUM, son of Charles W. ALLUM and Jemima BARNHART, in 1844 in Greene County, Pennsylvania. (John ALLUM was born on June 22, 1820 in Greene County, Pennsylvania, died on October 13, 1854 in Greene County, Pennsylvania and was buried in Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery, Greene County, Pennsylvania.)

Nancy next married Mr. SIMPSON after 1854.
