Elizabeth McCARROLL
- Born: 1820, Pennsylvania Or Ohio
- Marriage: Henry FIELDS about 1842
- Died: 1861-1862, Iowa County, Iowa
- Buried: Koszta Cemetery, Iowa County, Iowa
General Notes:
In the obituary of her husband, Henry Fields, deceased Elizabeth is documented as "Elizabeth McCarroll, half-sister to Louisa McCarroll," the latter married to Henry at the time of his death.
Louisa was definitely a daughter of Thomas and Irena (Lindley) McCarroll.
It is believed that Elizabeth was a daughter of Thomas and a first wife, Margaret Craig, who is buried in Carroll Cemetery, Washington County, Pennsylvania as "Margaret, Wife of Thomas McCARROLL, died Sept. 6, 1822 in the 30 yr of her age."
In 1880, a Sarah A. "McCarrell," age 56 [born about 1824], is designated stepdaughter in the household of widow Irena "McCarrell," age 67. (See "Irena Lindley" in this online file to view the McCarroll ("McCarrell") excerpt from the 1880 census.)
With just 11 years difference between the women, Sarah could not have been Irena's natural daughter. Therefore, it is likely that Elizabeth and Sarah were sisters with Irena's daughter Louisa their half-sister.
Elizabeth, Sarah and Louisa--and other siblings--are named in the will of Thomas McCarroll, who died in 1865.
