General Notes:
Photo: The monument for Micheal C. Crawford and "his devoted wife" Eliza Malinda Crawford is in Section N at Fairview Cemetery, Coffeyville, Montgomery County, Kansas.
Eliza's migrational path eluded us for many years. Prior to sharing this online file, I patiently sought and found her in census year after census year (except 1880!) ... documented her children and grandchildren ... then obtained photos of gravestones in Fairview Cemetery.

1844 BIRTH of Eliza Malinda Allum ("Malinda") (also "Sis")
Consistently found as "Eliza" or "Malinda" in census and other records, her name is provided "Elizabeth" in the biography of her son, John Allen Crawford (see the page of "John Allen Crawford" in this online file)
1850 CENSUS, Pennsylvania, Greene County, Jefferson Township ("Eliza," age 5, with parents)
1854 DEATH of father, John Allum
1859 DEATH of grandmother, Jemima (Barnhart) Allum
1860 CENSUS, Pennsylvania, Greene County, Richhill Township (see immediately below)
"Malinda" is found as "Matilda," age 15, "House Domestic," in the household of her paternal grandfather, Charles Allum. Malinda's father, John Allum, had died in 1854. Also in the Charles Allum household was Malinda's younger brother John [John Erwin Allum], age 11. The children's mother Nancy had remarried to Jacob Newland by 1860; Nancy and her additional children by John Allum--Manerva, Osa and Theodore--are in the Newland household in 1860 in East Finley Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania.
It had been stated that Eliza may have married an "E. M. Crawford" and that she had a son Jack who, at one time, lived in Coffeyville, Montgomery County, Kansas. My speculation [DeeAnna] led to the following:
1864 MARRIAGE (approximate) of Eliza Malinda Allum and Micheal Crawford
In the 1860 census for East Finley Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, Michael Crawford is in the household of John Fitzpatrick. Both Fitzpatrick and Crawford had been born in Ireland. In the 1870 census for Wheeling, Ohio County, West Virginia is a Michael Crawford, born in Ireland, married to "Eliza M. Crawford," born in Pennsylvania, age 25. The age of 25 coincides with the 1845 year of birth for Eliza Malinda Allum, who had indeed been born in Pennsylvania. The couple has two children, Lucy, age 5 (born about 1865) and John, age 2 (born about 1868). The 1860 Pennsylvania census describes Crawford as "Merchant Clerk"; the 1870 West Virginia census documents Crawford as "Ret. Grocer." Their son John could have acquired the common nickname for John, which is "Jack."

1868 BENEFICIARY in will of grandfather, Charles W. Allum
1870 CENSUS, West Virginia, Ohio County, Wheeling ("Michael," age 26, "Ret. Grocer") (wife "Eliza M.," age 25)
1880 CENSUS. Where? (1880s directories for Wheeling, Ohio County, West Virginia cite M. C. Crawford as a grocer, so it would seem the family should be found in West Virginia)
1900 CENSUS, Kansas, Montgomery County, Coffeyville ("Malinda" Crawford, age 55, born "December, 1844 in Pennsylvania," along with her husband, "M. C. Crawford," age 57, born "December, 1842 in Ireland," are in the household of their married daughter, Lucy [Crawford] Bingaman. In 1900 Michael and Eliza had been married 36 years. They had 6 children, all 6 living. The 1900 census tells us that Crawford, born in Ireland, came to the U. S. in 1858.
1904 DEATH of husband, Micheal C. Crawford, at approximately 61 years
1904 DEATH of mother Nancy (Cumpston) (Allum) Newland (aka Newlyn)
1905 CENSUS, Kansas State Census, Montgomery County, Coffeyville ("E. M.," age 60, born in Pennsylvania, is "Housekeeper" in the household of her daughter, "L. B. Bingaman" and her husband, "L. L. Bingaman")
1910 CENSUS, Kansas, Montgomery County, Coffeyville (Transcribed "Elia Crawford," age 65, widow ... "Eliza" was "mother-in-law" in household 515; her name appears at the very top of a census page, and the preceding page does not mesh with the one on which her name is found) (Eliza may have been in the household of her daughter Lucy, as she was when the 1905 census was taken)
1915 CENSUS, Kansas State Census, Montgomery County, Coffeyville ("E. M. Crawford," age 70, remains in the household of her daughter Lucy; she had been born in Pennsylvania and migrated to Kansas from West Virginia)
1920 CENSUS, Kansas, Montgomery County, Coffeyville ("Eliza M. Crawford," age 75, widow, is in the household of her son, Robert C. Crawford)
1925 CENSUS, Kansas State Census, Montgomery County, Coffeyville (This time "E. M. Crawford," age 80, is head of the household in which her son "Robert C.," age 45, "Insurance Agt.," also lives)
1930 CENSUS, Kansas, Montgomery County, Coffeyville ("Eliza M. Crawford," age 85, widow, is in the household of her son, Robert C. Crawford)
1931 DEATH, Eliza Malinda (Allum) Crawford, at approximately 86 years
Henriette "Belle" (Patterson) Allum (1886-1963), wife of Clayton Allum (1884-1963):
"I met ' Aunt Sis Crawford ' a few times when she visited Clayton's folks [Isaac Leonard Allum and Osa Jane Allum] in Waterloo, Iowa. At that time, she was living in Coffeyville, Kansas with her son and daughter-in-law, John and Virginia Crawford." (John married a woman named "Blanche," not Virginia. --DeeAnna)

THE IOWA RECORDER, Greene, Butler County, Iowa, February 19, 1908:
Mrs. L. Allum of Coffeyville, Kansas, who has been visiting her son, C. Allum, went to Waterloo and Marshalltown Thursday, for a visit before returning to her home.
"Mrs. L. Allum" was Osa Jane Allum, Eliza's younger sister. Osa married Isaac Leonard Allum, known as "Leonard." Evidently Osa, some time through the years, lived in Coffeyville, Kansas, certainly in 1908. --DeeAnna
COFFEYVILLE, KANSAS:
From the web site of the Coffeyville, Kansas Public Library
Coffeyville is located in the southeast corner of Kansas near the Verdigris River. Coffeyville was founded by Colonel James A. Coffey in 1869. The village continued to flourish and became a town in February 1872 but due to a legal problem had to be reorganized in March of 1873. In October 1892, the Dalton Gang attempted to raid the town's two banks. The men of the city joined together to fight against the Daltons. Today, the city holds a re-enactment of that raid on the first Saturday of October during Dalton Days each year. Another local attraction is the Brown Mansion, an antebellum-style home built in 1890's by William P. Brown. On the last weekend in April, the city hosts a spring festival called New Beginning Festival. The town area is full of street vendors and craft booths during each event.
Eliza married Micheal C. CRAWFORD about 1864 in Greene County, Pennsylvania (Probably). (Micheal C. CRAWFORD was born in December 1842 in Ireland, died on January 17, 1904 in Coffeyville, Montgomery County, Kansas and was buried in Fairview Cemetery, Coffeyville, Montgomery County, Kansas.)
