General Notes:
Document: The license for Mary Elizabeth "Minnie" Rowland and David Alfred Miller verifies their marriage on February 21, 1882, attested to by Edmund Forney, the minister who performed the ceremony.
A long way from Washington County, Maryland--where he was born--David Alfred Miller worked on the farm of Minnie's parents in Ogle County, Illinois, when the 1880 census was taken and where he and Minnie married in 1882.
Something I have always enjoyed about trying to document an individual for every Federal census in his or her lifetime is seeing how two people, such as David and Minnie, came together. Sometimes both individuals arrived in a specific county from different distant locations, met, then married, spending the remainder of their lives in that same area or, as a married couple, moving on to a different distant locale.
