Photo: "Frankie"--whose full name was Frances Folsom Fugard--was the youngest of the three daughters of Ira Gillman Fugard and his wife, Rachel Anna Allum. Like her elder sister, Irene Glenn Fugard--called "Glenn"--Frankie lived her entire life in Jasper County, Iowa. With her parents, her two elder sisters, and her sisters' spouses...Frankie and her own spouse, Jack, are buried in Newton Union Cemetery, Newton, Jasper County.

Photo preserved in an album formerly in the possession of Delmar Leroy Huffman, 1873-1960, and his wife, Essie Violet (Sprowls) Huffman, 1883-1969. Delmar and Essie lived, died and are buried in Greene County, Pennsylvania. Delmar was Frankie's first cousin--son of Lydia Margaret (Allum) Huffman, 1849-1937; Lydia was a sister to Frankie's mother, Rachel Anna (Allum) Fugard, 1850-1928

Jake Farmer, 68, Longtime Jasper Resident, Dies

Jake (Jack) Farmer, 68, of 604 East 41/2 St. S., a longtime resident of Jasper County, died at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines.

Graveside rites will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Newton Union Cemetery.

The Rev. Arthur V. Long, minister of the First Methodist Church, will conduct the services. Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Francis; a sister, Mrs. William Kratch of Kasson, Minn.; a nephew and niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother.

The son of George and Nancy Farmer, he was born March 1, 1894 in Otley.

Educated in the Monroe schools, he was married Jan. 24, 1925 in Des Moines. A resident of Monroe since a child, he moved to Newton after his marriage.

He was a moulder at the Maytag Co. for 37 years, retiring in 1959.

Mr. Farmer was a member of the Maytag 25-Year Club.

Frances Farmer, lifelong Jasper resident, dies

Mrs. Jack (Frances) Farmer, 90, formerly of 604 E 4 ½ St S, a lifelong resident of Jasper County, died Saturday at the Embassy Manor Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Wallace Funeral Home.

The Rev. David Raymond, pastor of the Congregational Church of Christ, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Wallace Funeral Home after 1 p.m. today.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband November, 1962, and two sisters, Mrs. Guy (Raye) Wilson and Mrs. Earl (Glenna) Smith.

The daughter of Ira and Ann Allum Flugard, she was born April 19, 1890 in the Murphy community, southeast of Newton.
