It is known that she was born in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois

Her gravestone at St. Mary's Cemetery, Dodgeville, DesMoines County, is engraved " 1858 "

1876 MARRIAGE of Mary Ann Counihan and William McLaughlin on June 8 at St. Joseph Church, Escanaba, Michigan by Father Langer; witnesses were Peter Caton and Mary Deneen, both of Escanaba, Michigan
