Shirley, June 3, 1999 e-mail to DeeAnna:
"In 1959 my parents, Stan and I and a great aunt went to Montana on our way to South Dakota, especially to look up the only full cousin my dad had. He didn't know where in Montana the family had settled. I located them by writing to Charles Allum, found in the phone book. Well, we had a great time, got data, took photos, etc. On another trip a few years later, Stan and I went to the cemeteries in that beautiful ' blue sky ' country and took pictures of gravestones. In 1960 Dad had a stroke and was in the hospital when Charles Henry Allum and his new bride, Gladys Murray, spent a week at Herrick on their honeymoon.
"Charles had daughters, including Dorothy, who we met. (The others were) Virginia, Arma and Donna.
"Charlie said the family migrated to Montana from Nebraska in 1913, homesteading for ten years, moving to Great Falls in 1932. Charlie was a farmer, a butcher for 10-14 years, ' worked at the base ' (military) and was a bank custodian."
