"My grandmother, Loreine Brushwood Hill, told me Jettie's middle name was Binford, although much of the time it was spelled Benford. His grandfather was Joshua Binford Hill, and Joshua's mother was Lydia P. Binford. The Binfords were a long line of Quakers from North Carolina, as was the Hill family, with Jettie's branch moving to Indiana in the early part of 1800s."

Jettie Benford* Hill [see note below] was the only son born to William and Emma (Allum) Hill and was born at Kellogg, Iowa June 24, 1895.* He was married at Emmett, Idaho May 12, 1920 t Loreine Brushwood, born May 14, 1901. They both belong to the Church of Christ. In the earlier part of his life he was a farmer, but since moving to California, he has operated a "Wholesale Egg Warehouse" at Eureka, California. He served in the World War in 1918, was wounded in the left forearm by a machine gun bullet November 3, 1918, in action on the battlefield. He received (the) "Purple Heart" Decoration for bravery.

In 1943, Jettie is on a Cattle ranch and his address is Bridgeville, California.
