"When Edna's mother died she was sent to live with her grandparents, the Clarks, at Woodbine, Iowa. Also there was her Uncle, who was the brother of Edna's mother, and her cousin, George Clark, whom Edna corresponded with over the years and was still in contact with him right up to her death in February 1985.

"Helge Anderson and Edna Weander were married October 3, 1917 in Douglas County, Nebraska. They settled in Oakland, Nebraska, and lived there for many years, and all their children were born there. Later on, probably around 1936 the Andersons moved to O'Neil and then Atkinson, Nebraska. Eventually from there they moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Edna operated a Nursing Home in Sioux Falls at that time and for many years. During that time Helge was driving taxi cab. In the Summer of 1946 Esther L. Allum and Kenton L. Allum, daughter & grandson, took a trip by train to visit with Helge and Edna. Kenton Allum has fond memories of the trip, and the stay at the nursing home which Edna operated. In April, 1947, Esther learned of her father's death via telegram, and traveled by train back to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for the funeral.

"About 1958 Edna married Charles Walberg then moved to Denver, Colorado, and operated a Nursing Home there. Edna's marriage to Charles ended in divorce April 13, 1964. Then in 1965 Edna married Charles Walberg's brother, Milford Walberg. She remained married to Milford until his death January 30, 1968. Edna moved to San Jose, California, in 1973, and lived with her daughter Esther. Upon Esther's death in 1977 Edna had moved into an apartment living by herself. Eventually, about 1982, Edna made the choice to go live in a nursing home due to changes in her medical condition. She was living in a nursing home on Clyde Avenue, Santa Clara, California, which was directly across the street from her grandson's apartment, Claude E. Allum, Jr. also known as ' Eddie '. Eddie died in 1984, and his death seemed to be devastating to her.

"Edna was active in the nursing home helping the other residents who were more disabled. She kept busy writing her books, and making cards, and keeping up correspondence with friends and relatives. Her special valentines card was received by her grandson, Kenton Allum, and granddaughter, Nancy Jo Campbell, in Washington, a few days before they learned she had passed on. Edna Walberg is buried in a crypt in Oakhill Cemetery in San Jose, California. No other relatives of Edna are buried in Oakhill Cemetery. In March 1985 I received a letter from George E. Clark, 1st cousin of Edna. At that time he and his wife Katharine lived in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He wrote: "Edna lost her mother at an early age, she was probably six years old when she came to live with her grandmother and grandfather Clark in Fremont." I believe he was referring to Fremont Nebraska. From this statement it would seem that the Clarks lived in Fremont first then later moved to Woodbine, IA. Edna told numerous stories of her life while living in Woodbine, IA."
