Roger Davis, descendant of Frederick Foster and Alice (Rockefeller) (Meacham) Foster:

"Frederick Foster was apparently killed near Pendleton, Oregon, for the gold dust he was carrying. He was heading home to Portland when someone testified he left the train in Pendleton because he did not feel well. Indians found his body floating in the river and buried him. Learning of an unidentified body, his wife had his body exhumed and identified him. He was then buried by the Masons in the town of Hood River, Oregon."
