OBITUARY
(John) from an undocumented 1948 newspaper:

AGED HUNTER DIES OF HEART ATTACK IN FIELD

The district's first fatality in the hunting field this season occurred Saturday afternoon when John Iams Frye, 75, of 530 Broad Street, Washington, succumbed to a heart attack near Time, Morris Township, Greene County.

Mr. Frye, a local carpenter, had gone hunting in Greene County Saturday, leaving home at 9:30 a.m. He was with his son, Paul Frye, and Richard Syrek, of Washington.

When his father did not return to the automobile about 5 p.m. where the three were to meet, the son and friend started to search for him. They found Mr. Frye in a clearing near the car where he had slumped to the ground and apparently died immediately.

Mr. Frye was born near Enon, a son of Thomas and Eliza Allum Frye. He had resided in Washington over 50 years. He was a carpenter by trade and a member of the local union.

His wife, Elizabeth Jones Frye, died in 1946.

Surviving are two daughters: Alena, wife of A. E. Dicks; Mrs. Juanita Morris; and two sons, Paul and John Frye, all of Washington, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
