General Notes:
Photo: This image of Eliza Ida May ("Ida") Allum is extracted from the group photo of the children of Isaac Allum and Sarah Ann Swart. According to anecdotes, Ida was the spunky daughter. She is known to have crossed out "1869" as her year of birth in the Isaac Allum Bible, writing "1870" in its place. But is 1870 correct or incorrect? Ida does not appear with her parents in the 1870 census when -- if born in 1869 -- she would have been about 11 months old. The 1870 census was taken on August 2. Ida was born on September 6. Ida's year of birth on her gravestone is 1870.
