  General Notes:

Photo: Seventh-born child of Isaac Allum and Sarah Ann Swart, Asenath Ann ("Dot") posed with her siblings for a group photograph in the mid-1890s. By the time the group photo was taken, Asenath's elder brother, John Monroe Allum, was deceased, killed in a hunting accident in Colorado in 1892.

Asenath's image was extracted from the group to become this individual picture.

"In the Bible, Asenath is one of the wives of Joseph (Genesis 41:45). Peninah is also found in the Bible, she being one of two wives of Elkanah. Of course, Jemima is also there. The Asenath and its variations come down to the Allum family through the Swart family and from their ancestor-ess, Asena Walton."

Asenath next married Harry Marshall McFARLAN, son of Marshall Humphrey McFARLAN and Eliza McFARLAN, on July 14, 1920 in Cedar Rapids, Linn County, Iowa. (Harry Marshall McFARLAN was born on June 23, 1893 in What Cheer, Keokuk County, Iowa and died on August 20, 1963 in Iowa City, Johnson County, Iowa.)
