Document: This 1892 affidavit on behalf of Mary A. (Fulton) (Allum) Hoskinson, widow of William Allum, 1817-1879, tells us that Mary Ann (Fields) Allum--William's first wife--died "about March 1," 1858. Witnessed by a Jeremiah Field(s), the document was necessary so second-wife Mary could file a Civil War widow's pension claim. From Margaret Smith Brennan

The 1850 census tells us Mary was born in Pennsylvania, but her younger sister Rachel declares in census records that she (Rachel) was born in Delaware. Either Mary herself was born in Delaware prior to Rachel's own birth...or Mary was born after her sister Rachel...in Pennsylvania
Mary married William ALLUM 2nd, son of Charles W. ALLUM and Jemima BARNHART, about 1837 in Greene County, Pennsylvania. (William ALLUM 2nd was born in 1817 in Greene County, Pennsylvania, died on April 25, 1879 in Moundsville, Marshall County, West Virginia and was buried in Mount Rose Cemetery, Moundsville, Marshall County, West Virginia.)
