OBITUARY (William) from BURLINGTON HAWKEYE GAZETTE, Saturday, April 19, 1958:


William Thomas McLaughlin, 73, Florence Avenue, Burlington, Route 3, died at 4 p.m. Friday at Mercy hospital. He had been in failing health for several years.

McLaughlin had retired in 1949 after operating a grocery and meat market on North Main Street for many years. He was born July 29, 1884, in Franklin Township, the son of William and Mary Ann Counihan McLaughlin. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church.

Surviving are two sisters, Agnes McLaughlin, Burlington, with whom he had made his home, and Mrs. Leonard W. Covert, Yucaipa, California; two brothers, James H. McLaughlin and Charles Joseph McLaughlin, both of Burlington; and a number of nieces and nephews. His parents and several sisters and brothers are dead.

Services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday in St. Paul's Catholic Church. The cortege will leave Prugh's Chapel at 8:50 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery, Dodgeville. The rosary will be recited in Prugh's Chapel at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
